Your portrait is often the first impression you make — on LinkedIn, on your website, on a conference programme. A strong headshot communicates confidence, professionalism, and personality in a single frame. A weak one costs you opportunities before you even speak.
I photograph entrepreneurs, executives, creatives, and professionals who understand that their image is part of their brand. Every session is tailored — from the lighting and backdrop to your styling and expression. My studio in West Kensington (W14) is purpose-built for portrait work, with large windows for natural light and full studio lighting for precision control.

Portrait sessions at my London studio are designed for anyone who needs professional images that go beyond a quick phone snap. Whether you are building a personal brand, updating your corporate headshot, or creating content for your website and social media, a dedicated portrait session gives you a library of images you can use for months.
Every session includes a pre-shoot consultation where we discuss your goals, wardrobe, and the look you want to achieve. I guide you through posing so that even camera-shy clients leave feeling confident about their images.
Asset planning
A useful portrait session produces a small visual system, not ten versions of the same headshot. A square profile image needs immediate eye contact at thumbnail size. A website hero needs space for a headline. A press portrait must still read when an editor crops it vertically, while a speaker biography usually needs a clean, credible frame that will sit beside event branding.
The pre-shoot conversation therefore maps each required image to a real use. That determines orientation, background, wardrobe and expression before the camera comes out. It also prevents the common result where the strongest frame cannot be used because a shoulder, hand or background detail occupies the space reserved for text.
| Use | Frame to capture |
|---|---|
| LinkedIn and team pages | Direct expression, simple background and room for a square crop. |
| Website hero | Horizontal and vertical options with deliberate negative space. |
| Press and speaking | Recognisable portrait, neutral colour and flexible editorial crop. |
| Founder content | Working, listening and environmental frames alongside the formal portrait. |
No posing routine needs to be learned. Mariya starts with body position and light, then gives one instruction at a time: where to place weight, where to look and what to do with the hands. The camera stays farther back where possible so facial proportions remain natural. The session moves from controlled frames into small actions, because the expression between instructions is often more convincing than a held smile.
Wardrobe is chosen for contrast, fit and purpose. Bring complete looks rather than isolated garments, including the shoes and layers that change posture. Fine checks, reflective logos and a brand-new outfit that needs constant adjustment are usually less useful than solid colour and familiar tailoring. A lint roller, pressed clothing and the correct underlayers save more time than elaborate retouching later.
The proofing stage separates personal preference from business function. Mariya helps identify which frames work at small size, which provide useful copy space and which expressions fit the intended audience. Retouching is clean and restrained: temporary distractions can be corrected while skin texture and recognisable features remain.
For teams, consistency is documented so later hires can be photographed to match the original set. For an individual brand, the delivery can include a mix of crops and settings rather than repeated close-ups. Start with the posing library, use the outfit planner, or compare a studio session with London locations.
