Outfit planner

How many looks actually fit in your session — and what they cost.

The most common planning mistake is bringing six outfits to a two-hour session. What follows is not enough time for any of them. This works out how many looks your booking supports, how long each one really gets, and what the extra looks add to the bill.

What to actually bring

  • Every outfit on a hanger, steamed. Creases cost more in retouching (£10 per photograph) than they do in ten minutes with a steamer.
  • Two pairs of shoes minimum. Shoes change posture more than any other garment — heels alter how you stand even in frames that crop above the ankle.
  • One plain, fitted piece. Whatever the shoot, one clean look with no pattern gives you the frames that still work in five years.
  • Something with structure at the shoulder. A blazer or a coat does more for a portrait than almost anything else in the bag.
  • Skin-tone underwear for anything light or fitted, and no elastic marks — put on the shoot outfit rather than arriving in tight jeans.
  • Jewellery in a small box, not on you. Deciding on set is faster, and metal that fights the styling is easy to remove between frames.
  • A backup of the hero look if you have one. Coffee happens.

How the numbers work

A look is not just the clothing — it is the change, the re-touch of hair and makeup, and rebuilding the light if the silhouette is different. Fifteen to twenty-five minutes per look is realistic; anything under fifteen means the last look gets four frames and none of them are the one you wanted.

On an hourly booking, fashion is £300 per hour and that rate already includes one full look and ten retouched photographs. Each additional look is £100. On a packaged session — personal branding from £600 for two hours, lookbook or content day from £600 for a half day — looks are agreed in the plan rather than charged individually.

How many outfits for a 2-hour shoot?

Two or three for personal branding, allowing 20–25 minutes per look including the change. One well-executed look beats three rushed ones.

Do extra outfits cost more?

On an hourly fashion booking, yes — £300 per hour includes one full look and ten retouched photographs, and each additional look is £100. On a packaged session the looks are agreed in advance.

Should I bring options or decide in advance?

Bring options. Deciding on set takes two minutes and produces better choices, because you can see the light and the location rather than guessing at home.
